College & Career

The counseling department, in keeping with the ASCA National Model, also helps LVCP students sort through potential college and career choices to ensure that students select a college experience that is best for them.  Additionally, LVCP counseling provides an introduction to career choices so that students will have a better idea of what they would like to do as they enter college, thus reducing the number of times they might change their major, a process which usually increases the number of college courses they will have to complete, resulting in an extended time in college. The college and career counseling plan at LVCP includes the following services:

-Career Days for 9-10th graders (4 days per year with 8 speakers each day)

-College Fairs

-Grade Level College Field Trips

-Counseling Information Board

-College Wall

-Advisory Lessons on Finance, Resume Writing, Interviewing Strategies

-Operates as an official PSAT and SAT test center

-Parent Education Nights on the college admissions process

-Support writing college applications, letters of reference, and completing FAFSA forms

-Support with early admission to local Community Colleges

-Support with transcripts and official school records

Please contact the counseling office if you would like more information about any of the above services.
