Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), is recognized as the association that accredits public and private schools, colleges, and universities in the United States and abroad. WASC accreditation means that CSU and UC will accept our courses as appropriate preparation for students applying to these universities.
Livermore Valley Charter Prep was named a Candidate For Accreditation on February 7, 2012 after a preliminary self study and site visit. This allowed LVCP to begin the process of submitting courses to UC/CSU for approval. We have submitted all 9-11th grade A-G courses and are waiting for feedback. All 12th grade courses will be submitted for approval in the spring of 2013.
For the Full Accreditation Process, "Each institution is evaluated on the basis of the WASC criteria and the appropriateness of the school’s stated purpose, schoolwide student goals and the degree to which it accomplishes these.
The full accreditation process has three stages: the self-study, the visit, and the follow-up. A school’s philosophy and the WASC criteria serve as the underlying bases for these stages. LVCP is currently involved in its self-study process. In the spring of 2013 and the fall of 2013, we will again be visited by WASC site evaluators. The WASC Self Study process is continuous and site visits occur every 3-6 years after reciving Initial Candidacy." (http://www.acswasc.org/about_overview.htm)
