Kate Maurer

Kate Maurer, from Monterey CA, earned her undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Literature from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She then served as a Civil Engineer in the US Air Force for 6 years.  Following this time as an Engineer, Ms. Maurer earned a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics from UC Davis. She is continuing her study at UC Davis to earn a Masters of Arts in Education. 

Ms. Maurer is excited to join the LVCP team!  She uses collaboration and group work regularly in her classroom, and draws on her experience in engineering to show students how math is used out in the real world!  Outside of school Ms. Maurer loves playing and watching soccer and running.  Growing up in Monterey she developed a strong love for the ocean and kayaking, as well as hiking and camping.  Her other passion is traveling abroad, which she hopes to find time to do once per year.
